I edited the Society's journal Mixed Moss for several years, and was co-publisher of the first ten books in the Amazon Publications series.

Heidi’s Alp

US Atlantic Monthly 1988. Originally published 1987 in the UK by Heinemann as The Canary-Coloured Cart, and serialised in the London Evening Standard in 1985], this book is just about to be published in Japanese. It is the story of a journey around Europe with my four children in search of the settings of such classic children’s stories as Pinocchio, Babar, Heidi, Hans Andersen’s Fairy Tales. Literary Trails: Writers in their Landscape (National Trust 2000)

An exploration of places in England and Wales with literary connections. Themes include Arthurian sites, Jane Austen landscapes, literary salons in great and small country houses, Hardy’s Wessex, the literary associations of the Lake District, the homes of the Bloomsbury Group in Sussex and Cornwall, and the settings of thrillers and detective novels.
